Our Mission

The Mission of the Visiting Nurse Association is to foster the dignity and well-being of the residents of our community by delivering the highest quality home and community based health care services that provide peace of mind, quality of life, and independence.

Our History

In 1896, Anna Millard Rogers founded the Visiting Nurse Association. Her army of women were a dedicated and innovative band of visiting nurses who, as we know now, invented home health care.

The VNA is blind to fortune, creed, language and skin color. All people are treated with dignity and respect. To truly help the sick, we must first gain their trust. It allows us to help people when illness makes them vulnerable and afraid. And it lets us care for them as people, as well as patients.

The VNA is strong and stable. We have built many collaborative relationships and deliver a wide range of programs. Our nurses bring vast energy and commitment to our work - to comfort and care for those in need. That need calls in many faces - the ill, the injured, the aged, the newborn, the homeless. What has not changed in more than a century is our mission: to foster dignity and well being of the residents of our community.

Who Are We

The Visiting Nurse Association is a leading health care team providing home health care, home infusion, hospice and community health services to individuals and families in Omaha and the surrounding communities. As the leader in home health care, VNA offers the most comprehensive programs and services available in the area.

As the health care systems of today change, VNA has become invaluable to our community. Cardiac patients, newly diagnosed diabetics, patients adjusting to life with chronic illness, women experiencing high-risk pregnancies, low birth weight infants and those facing terminal illness have all welcomed VNA into their homes. The staff makes use of clinical expertise, state of the art technologies, patient education materials, and genuine concern to provide specialized programs and services.
